Rector's Greeting
For 200 years St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications has been training engineers for waterway transport in Russia. Graduates are high-paid qualified specialists in their business.
At present our University is large transport educational center for life-long learning training. Teaching of students and cadets is realized in technical, natural-scientific and humanitarian profiles. The higher vocational training at SPSUWC is provided both for Russian students and foreign students of more than 30 countries. The University participates in a number of the international programs has extensive contacts with foreign Universities and organisations.
University administration gives all the opportunities for the students to realize their abilities, to be ready for professional activity.
There are number of transport laboratories functioning at SPSUWC: The Laboratory of Safety of Hydro technical Engineering Constructions, named after Prof. V.E.Timonov, The Laboratory of Modelling of Transport Processes, named after Prof. A.S.Butov, The Laboratory of Vessel’s Navigation Qualities (Towing Tank), The Planetarium, named after Prof. K.A.Emets, The Laboratory of Vessels Power Plant, different Training Centers for ashore personnel and seafarerers of shipping companies.
Saint-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications is known for its experienced professors, teaching staff. Among the professors of the University there are Honored Scientists, Honored Inland Transport Specialists. For many years they share their wide knowledge and experience with the students; their graduates succeed in marine and waterway transport, apply their qualification and professional skills in shipping companies, ports, cruise companies, shipbuilding and ship repair yards, in water supply management and administration.
We are proud of our University and its history; we keep traditions and introduce advanced concepts in an education system of SPSUWC.
